Privacy policy
LivePointer is a presentation pointer and slide remote: the iPhone app controls the free LivePointer app on your Mac over your own network.
What LivePointer collects
Nothing. LivePointer has no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Neither app sends any data to us or to anyone else. This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics.
How the iPhone and the Mac talk
The iPhone and the Mac talk directly to each other over your local Wi-Fi network or the iPhone’s Personal Hotspot. The connection is encrypted with a key that is created when you pair the two devices and that is stored only on them. No server of ours is involved, and nothing about your slides, your screen or your touches leaves your network.
Permissions the iPhone app asks for
- Camera: only to scan the pairing code shown in the Mac app’s window. Nothing is recorded or saved.
- Local Network: to find your Mac on the network and connect to it. Without it the app cannot reach the Mac.
What the Mac app can access
- Screen Recording: only if you turn on the screen preview, so the iPhone can show a live picture of the Mac’s display. The picture goes to your paired iPhone and nowhere else.
- Accessibility: to send the slide keys to PowerPoint, Keynote or the app in front.
- Automation: to read the slide number from PowerPoint or Keynote and to go to the slide you pick.
- Full Disk Access: only if you turn on slide thumbnails, so the Mac can read the PDF that PowerPoint or Keynote exports for them.
You can switch each of these off in System Settings at any time.
Children
LivePointer is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.
